PURPOSE OF JOB

To oversee and manage the production of the mill on a daily basis. To ensure that all company requirements on HR, quality, safety, risk, environment, administration and operations are met within the production environment. 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 

Complying with Health, Safety and Risk regulations

  • Ensure safe operation of the plant is in place and met.
  • Report any conditions that may affect the safety of personnel or machinery to supervisors and management as soon as you are aware of it.
  • Production items and deadlines on safety report needs to be maintained and reported on. 

Environment and sustainability

  • Comply and implement De Heus SA Environment and Sustainability procedures and work instructions.
  • Implement and monitor Production environment and sustainability to meet all relevant and legal Company requirements, including relevant documentation – Environment report.

Leadership and Human recourses

  • Comply and implement De Heus SA Leadership and Human Resources procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure that you conduct production meetings with the staff and minutes needs to be on the S drive as well as the activity list. Minutes should be documented and shared across the team.
  • Continually strive to improve teamwork with employees.
  • Ensure that performance appraisals are conducted with staff and that deadlines are met.
  • Ensure production team members are effectively communicated to with regards to their responsibilities and authorities.
  • Report and implement training and development of the production team through utilising available training opportunities. Ensure that all production personal are skilled and trained according to work instructions relevant to their job functions.
  • Manage production employee relation climate and ensure corrective and disciplinary action is taken where required in line with relevant legislation and company policy.
  • Manage production staff time keeping, leave roster and attendance in line with Company procedure.
  • Display and promote the positive agreed De Heus behaviours while avoiding and deterring the negative agreed behaviours.
  • Request recruitment of production staff and organise exit medicals. 

Quality and laboratory

  • Comply to and Implement De Heus South Africa Quality and Laboratory Procedures and Work Instructions at Branch. Production items on ISO Audit report.
  • Implement and monitor Production quality control processes in line with the Company requirements. Production items on Afri Compliance Audit report.
  • Implement and monitor the ISO standards and approach in all areas of Production. Production items and deadlines on NCR and QAM report.
  • Monitors and drives housekeeping in Production and yard area.  
  • Investigation and establishment of root cause of Production related items on NCR Register. Calibration and verification matrix. Compile and submit daily redress report.

Finance and administration

  • Comply to and Implement De Heus South Africa Finance and Administration Procedures and Work Instructions. Expense saving project.
  • Contribute to Production Annual Budget
  • Obtain quotes and recommend suppliers for Production related expense items
  • Implement and encourage Production cost cutting initiatives that do not impact on long term business sustainability. 

Procurement and inventory

  • Comply to and Implement De Heus South Africa Procurement and Inventory Procedures and Work Instructions. FP- Quality and value variance report
  • Manage Production milling loss factors and initiate plans to reduce these losses. Daily production planning document.

Operations management

  • Comply to and Implement De Heus South Africa Operations Management Procedures and Work Instructions. Mixer, press and Bag report.
  • Compile daily Production plan and sequencing in order to ensure maximum efficiencies.
    (Utilisation, TPH running, TPH available, downtime %, DT engineering, Planned maintenance, downtime per category.)
  • Analyse and drive Production asset productivity through KPIs and efficiencies.
  • Daily capture, analyse and report of Production data. Actual KPI’s versus budget and works with Production team to address the areas of non-conformance or concern. PCS report
  • Daily analyse Mill PCS report to optimise Production parameters and quality (dosing variances, downtime etc)
  • Communication with Maintenance with regards to availability of mill for maintenance.

Marketing and customer

  • Comply to and Implement De Heus South Africa Marketing and Customer Procedures and Work Instructions. Production items and deadlines on Customer complaint register.
  • Communication with Sales Order Clerks to ensure customers are informed about outgoing loads.
  • Investigation and establishment of root cause of Production related items on Customer complaint Register. 

Business intelligence and communication

  • Comply to and Implement De Heus South Africa Business Intelligence and Communication Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Ensures adherence to Production ERP and DH Application system and data requirements and accurate and on time capture of information.
  • Checking daily Production data and releasing to DHP

Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12 Certificate)
  • Production or related qualification would be preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Code 08/EB drivers license
  • 3 - 5 Years’ experience in a similar position
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word
